Basarrate is a Bilbao metro station on lines 1 and 2. It sits under Campa de Basarrate in the Santutxu neighborhood of Bilbao, in the Begoña district. The station’s name comes from the nearby Basarrate field. It opened on 5 July 1997 and was designed by Norman Foster in the cavern-like style typical of Metro Bilbao, with the main hall above the tracks. Basarrate has two underground side platforms and two tracks. The station is in fare Zone 1 and is accessible to passengers with mobility needs.
