Ballyvolane, or Baile Uí Mhaoláin in Irish, is a townland and suburb of Cork on the city’s north side. It lies in the civil parish of St. Anne's Shandon and is part of the Cork North-Central Dáil constituency. The area has two schools, St. Aidan's Community College and Scoil Oilibhéir, and its Catholic church is Saint Oliver's, built in the 1990s. Near Ballyvolane are several ancient sites protected as National Monuments, including burnt mounds and fulacht fiadh. Ballyvolane Shopping Centre, anchored by Dunnes Stores, opened in 1980. In June 2012, several households in the area were damaged by flooding.
