Baar Baar Dekho is a 2016 Indian Hindi-language science fiction romantic drama directed by Nitya Mehra in her feature debut. Produced by Karan Johar and Farhan Akhtar under Dharma Productions and Excel Entertainment, it stars Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra, with Ram Kapoor and Sarika in supporting roles.

The story follows Jai Varma, a mathematics professor, and his childhood sweetheart Diya Kapoor. In Delhi, Diya wants to marry, while Jai hopes for a Cambridge fellowship. After a heated argument, Jai drinks too much and wakes up on his honeymoon in Thailand with no memory of the past days. He soon discovers he can time-travel through key moments of his future, jumping between moments in the years ahead and trying to fix his relationship.

As Jai moves through future points—including a time when Diya is pregnant and later when he faces a possible divorce and family obligations—he learns that neglecting love for work has consequences. With the guidance of a priest and one final chance, he chooses to be present and repair what matters most. He wakes up in the present, realigns his priorities, and rushes to Diya, leading to a renewed commitment and their wedding.

Development and production details:
- It was Nitya Mehra’s directorial debut. Early in development, Aamir Khan and Deepika Padukone were attached but left the project; Anushka Sharma was offered the role before Katrina Kaif joined.
- Principal photography began in August 2015 in Glasgow, with additional shoots in Delhi, Mumbai, and a song filmed in Krabi, Thailand.
- The film had a budget of about ₹53 crore and grossed around ₹62.7 crore worldwide, making it an average performer at the box office.

Music:
- The soundtrack was composed by a team including Amaal Mallik, Arko, Badshah, Jasleen Royal, Bilal Saeed, and Prem–Hardeep. Kala Chashma, a popular track, was released as a single in July 2016.

Release and reception:
- Baar Baar Dekho released on 9 September 2016. It received mixed-to-polarized reviews, with praise for its music, visuals, and high-concept idea, but criticism for its screenplay and handling of the time-travel premise.
- The film’s box office performance was modest, earning praise for its ambition but not breaking into blockbuster territory.

Note:
- The film’s premise of time travel and relationship choices has been noted for its influence, and the 2021 Australian romantic comedy Long Story Short drew loose inspiration from Baar Baar Dekho’s core idea.
