Athletics at the 1900 Summer Olympics – Men's 400 metres hurdles
Men's 400 metres hurdles at the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris was held at the Bois de Boulogne on July 14 (semifinals) and July 15 (final). It was the event’s Olympic debut. The race took place on a 500-metre track, with hurdles made from telegraph poles and a water jump for the last hurdle. Five athletes from four nations competed.
The semifinals produced finalists, but one athlete was eliminated in the heats and one scratched before the final, leaving three starters in the final. Walter Tewksbury of the United States won in 57.6 seconds, Henri Tauzin of France took silver, and George Orton of Canada earned bronze.
