The 1985–86 Northeast Louisiana Indians men's basketball team represented the University of Louisiana at Monroe in the 1985–86 NCAA Division I season. Led by fifth-year head coach Mike Vining, they played home games at Fant–Ewing Coliseum in Monroe and were part of the Southland Conference. They finished the season 20–10 overall, 9–3 in conference play, winning the Southland regular-season title. They also won the Southland tournament to earn an automatic NCAA tournament bid as the No. 13 seed in the West region. The Indians lost in the first round to No. 4 seed UNLV, 74–51.
