Association of Communist Workers
The Association of Communist Workers (ACW) was a UK anti-revisionist political party. It began in 1969 when Harpal Brar and his allies split from the Revolutionary Marxist-Leninist League. Founding members included Kathy Sharp, Ella Rule, Iris Cremer and Godfrey Cremer; Ranjeet Brar, Joti Brar and Carlos Martinez were also involved. At first the ACW was seen as Maoist and worked with the women's movement through the Union of Women for Liberation. Through Brar, it connected with the Indian Workers Association, the Association of Indian Communists and the Stalin Society. Over time the group moved away from Maoism toward anti-revisionism. In 1997 the ACW dissolved and joined the Socialist Labour Party (SLP). After many members left the SLP in 2004, they helped form the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist–Leninist). The CPGB-ML later helped launch the Workers Party electoral front with George Galloway in 2019, but the groups split again in 2021.
