Antonio Calderón de León

Antonio Calderón de León (1540–1621) was a Spanish Catholic bishop who served in the Americas. Born in Baeza, Spain, he became Bishop of Puerto Rico in 1593, was consecrated in 1597, and then served as Bishop of Panamá from 1598 to 1605. In 1605 he became the first Bishop of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, a diocese in present-day Bolivia, and he led that see until his death in 1621 at age 81.
