Anke Schäferkordt
Anke Schäferkordt (born 12 December 1962 in Lemgo, Germany) is a German businesswoman who led RTL Group as CEO from 2012 to 2017. She grew up in Henstorf and studied business administration at Paderborn University, graduating in 1988. Schäferkordt started her career in Bertelsmann’s management trainee program and joined RTL in 1991. She was managing director of VOX from 1999 to 2005. In 2005 she became deputy to Gerhard Zeiler at RTL Germany and soon took over the RTL Germany media group, including RTL Television and VOX.
In 2012 she became CEO of RTL Group in Luxembourg and was inducted into the German Advertising Hall of Fame. On 1 February 2013 she handed over as CEO of RTL Television Germany to Frank Hoffmann and won the International Emmy Award for Directorate Award. Schäferkordt left the RTL Group CEO role in 2017. In 2023, CDU-led German state governments proposed her for an expert group on reforming public broadcasting, but she declined. In 2007 she was named one of Europe’s 25 top businesswomen by the Financial Times.
