Andrew Neel
Andrew Neel is an American filmmaker from Vermont, born in 1978. He’s known for Darkon, New World Order, King Kelly, Goat, and he co-wrote Zola (2021). He is the grandson of artist Alice Neel and his sister is artist Elizabeth Neel. He went to Northfield Mount Hermon School and earned a BA in Film Studies from Columbia College in 2001. After college he started Seethink Productions (later Seethink Films) with Ethan Palmer, Luke Meyer and Tom Davis. He has directed and produced award-winning documentaries like Darkon and Alice Neel, and the feature The Feature. His film Goat premiered at Sundance and Berlin in 2016 and was released by Paramount. His first feature narrative, King Kelly, came out in 2012. He co-wrote Zola (2021) with A24. He produced Stand Clear of the Closing Doors (2013), which won the Tribeca Jury Prize, and Breaking a Monster (2015). He also worked on the FX limited series A Teacher (2020).
