Andrea Lalli
Andrea Lalli (born 20 May 1987 in Florence) is an Italian long-distance runner who competes in events from 5000 meters to the half marathon. He runs for the sports club Fiamme Gialle.
Lalli started his career by winning cross country medals: he took the European Cross Country junior title in 2006 and the under-23 title in 2008. On the track, he was runner-up in the 10,000 meters at the 2009 European Athletics U23 Championships, finishing behind Mert Girmalegesse. He helped Italy win bronze at the 2009 European Cross Country Championships and won the short course at the 2010 World Military Cross Country Championships.
In 2010 he finished seventh in the 10,000 meters at the European Championships and sixth in the European Cross Country event. He made his half marathon debut at Stramilano in 2011, finishing 1:02:32 as the first non-African to cross the line. After Achilles surgery later that year, he returned to help his club finish second at the 2012 European Clubs Cross Country Championships. At Stramilano 2012 he ran a personal best 1:01:11, the best Italian time there since 2002. That year he also won the European Cross Country Championships with a time of 30:01. Lalli has won five national senior titles.
