Tacuini

Tacuini is a small group (tribe) of cicadas, insects in the family Cicadidae. It was created in 1904 by the entomologist William Lucas Distant. For many years, many genera now placed in Tacuini were moved into a related tribe called Cryptotympanini. In 2018, researchers proposed that Tacuini might be treated as a synonym of Cryptotympanini, and later work confirmed that Tacuini is a valid name with priority. Some databases list Tacuina as worldwide and treat it (or its Tacuina) as a synonym of Cryptotympanini. Tacuini cicadas are found in temperate and tropical regions.
