Andina (news agency)
Andina is Peru’s government-owned news agency. It reports on Latin America and the world from Lima and serves audiences worldwide. The agency was founded on June 12, 1981, during the second term of President Fernando Belaúnde Terry. It is part of Editora Perú, the government media group that also publishes the daily El Peruano. In 2001 Andina briefly merged with El Peruano, but in 2002 it was reestablished as a separate agency under editor Gerardo Barraza. Andina has correspondents in every Peruvian province and produces more than 90 dispatches each day for 69 radio stations, 40 newspapers, and four international news agencies; it also provides news bulletins to Bolivian media. Since 2012, Andina has been a member of the Latin American Union of News Agencies (ULAN). The current editor-in-chief is Félix Paz Quiroz.
