Anders Aplin
Anders Aplin, known simply as Anders, is a Singaporean footballer who plays as a right-back for Hougang United in the Singapore Premier League, where he serves as captain. He is valued for his defensive strength and long-throw-ins, and can also play as a centre-back, central midfielder, or occasionally as a striker.
He rose through the Singapore Sports School and the National Football Academy, then played for amateur NFL clubs before turning professional with Geylang International in 2016. He made his national team debut in 2018 and spent part of 2018 on loan at Matsumoto Yamaga in Japan, becoming the first Singaporean to play in the J2 League. He joined Hougang United ahead of the 2020 season and has been a key player, including a late 2023 AFC Cup assist. After Nazrul Nazari left, he was named club captain for the 2025–26 season.
Off the pitch, Anders studied business at Nanyang Technological University and is a SAF commando. He is the cousin of former Singapore international Tan Kim Leng. He was married to Rachel Wong from late 2019 until their marriage was annulled in 2021.
