Declan Lovett
Declan Lovett (Irish: Déaglán Mac Lomhaid), born 1944 in Kilmoyley, County Kerry, Ireland, is a former Gaelic games player. He played both hurling and Gaelic football for Kerry and at club level for Kilmoyley and Ardfert. His positions were right corner-forward in football and full-forward in hurling.
With Kilmoyley, he won three consecutive Kerry senior hurling championships from 1962 to 1964 and later earned more county honours in 1970 and 1971.
Lovett’s inter-county career began with Kerry minor football, including the 1962 All-Ireland minor final win over Mayo. He also played junior hurling that year and spent four years in the under-21 grade, winning the All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship in 1964.
He joined the Kerry senior team during the 1964–65 National Football League. He also won Division 2 titles in hurling in 1967 and 1968. As a member of the Kerry junior football team, he won the All-Ireland Junior Football Championship in 1967 after defeating London. He was an unused substitute when Down beat Kerry in the 1968 All-Ireland final.
Away from sport, Lovett taught at Kilmoyley National School for 41 years, becoming principal in 1971 and retiring in 2004.
