Alpha Males (TV series)
Alpha Males (Machos Alfa) is a Spanish comedy on Netflix created by Alberto and Laura Caballero. The show stars Fernando Gil, María Hervás, Raúl Tejón, Kira Miró, Gorka Otxoa, Paula Gallego, Fele Martínez, and Raquel Guerrero, and is produced by Contubernio Films.
Premise:
Four middle-aged friends notice their male privilege fading as social changes empower women. They try to adapt in different ways, and in season 1 they attend a course on deconstructing masculinity, a central theme throughout the series.
Release and seasons:
The series premiered on December 30, 2022. It was renewed for a second season, which aired February 9, 2024. The third season came out January 10, 2025. The show has been renewed for a fourth and fifth season, with season 4 scheduled for January 9, 2026.
International versions:
Netflix has announced local adaptations in France, Italy, the Netherlands, and Germany, and a German adaptation has been confirmed.
Origin:
The concept was developed after the COVID-19 lockdown ended, when the Caballero siblings and co-writers began exploring how middle-aged men react to social changes. They created the series with the permission of Mediaset España and then brought it to Netflix.
