Transparent is an American comedy-drama TV series created by Joey Soloway for Amazon Studios. It premiered on February 6, 2014, on Amazon Prime Video. The story follows the Pfefferman family in Los Angeles after their parent, Maura, comes out as a transgender woman. Maura is played by Jeffrey Tambor, with a supporting cast that includes Gaby Hoffmann, Jay Duplass, Amy Landecker, Judith Light, and Kathryn Hahn. The show runs five seasons and 41 episodes, with the final season presented as a feature-length musical finale released on September 27, 2019.

The series was widely praised for its ambitious storytelling and performances. It won Golden Globes for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy and Best Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy for Tambor, and Tambor also won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. Transparent also highlighted diverse voices behind the scenes, employing many transgender writers, consultants, and performers.

In 2017, Tambor faced sexual harassment allegations and announced he would not return to the show; he was officially fired in 2018. The Musicale Finale addressed Maura’s death and the Pfefferman family’s life through music. In 2023, the story was adapted into a stage musical, A Transparent Musical, in Los Angeles.
