Alhandra, São João dos Montes e Calhandriz
Alhandra, São João dos Montes e Calhandriz is a civil parish in Vila Franca de Xira, in the Lisbon region of Portugal. It was created in 2013 by merging three former parishes: Alhandra, São João dos Montes and Calhandriz. The parish covers 27.54 square kilometers and had a population of 12,866 in 2011, giving a population density of about 467 people per square kilometer. The area is known as the birthplace of the famous Portuguese explorer Afonso de Albuquerque, who was born in Alhandra.
