Academy of the Sacred Heart (Bloomfield Township, Michigan)
Academy of the Sacred Heart is a private Roman Catholic school in Bloomfield Township, Michigan, near Detroit. It serves girls from infancy through 12th grade and boys from infancy through 8th grade. It is the oldest independent school in Michigan, founded in 1851 in Detroit and moving to a 28-acre campus on Kensington Road in Bloomfield Township in 1958.
The school is part of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools and is affiliated with the Society of the Sacred Heart in 41 countries. The current head of school is Damian Hermann. The school colors are navy blue and gold. Athletically, girls teams are called the Gazelles and boys teams the Knights, competing in the Catholic High School League.
Academy of the Sacred Heart is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, the Independent School Association of the Central States, and the Sacred Heart Commission on Goals.
