Alexander Kalyanin

Alexander Igorevich Kalyanin (24 September 1987 – 7 September 2011) was a Russian professional ice hockey right winger. He played for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), and had also played for Traktor Chelyabinsk and Dizel Penza. Born in Chelyabinsk, he represented Russia internationally. He was 6 ft 1 in tall, weighed 198 lb, and shot left. His career lasted from 2005 to 2011.

On 7 September 2011, Kalyanin died in the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl plane crash near Yaroslavl, Russia, when a Yakovlev Yak-42 carrying almost the entire team crashed while heading to Minsk for the season opener. He died at age 23, just 17 days before his 24th birthday.
