Albino (also known as The Night of the Askari, Death in the Sun, and Whispering Death) is a 1976 thriller directed by Jürgen Goslar. It’s a West German production filmed in Rhodesia and based on Daniel Carney’s novel The Whispering Death. The film stars Christopher Lee, James Faulkner, Sybil Danning and Horst Frank.

Plot
Terrick, a British South Africa Police officer, plans to retire and marry Sally. Their hopes are shattered when black nationalist guerrillas attack their farm. Sally is raped and killed by the albino guerrilla leader known as Whispering Death. Grief-stricken, Terrick and his farmworker Katchemu seek revenge. They discover the guerrillas plan to ambush villagers at a meeting, and Terrick’s group opens fire early, injuring civilians. The Rhodesian government demands Terrick be punished, while many policemen sympathize with him and resist the manhunt, so the SAS is brought in. Whispering Death and the guerrillas flee across the border. Terrick and Katchemu pursue them, with Katchemu torturing a captured guerrilla for information. After brutal fighting, most guerrillas die and Terrick kills Whispering Death. The next morning Rhodesian troops catch Terrick, but he is mentally broken and is shot dead when he threatens them.

Reception
Scholars Mark Miller and Tom Johnson describe Albino as a harsh, troubling tale of racial hatred and revenge, criticizing its treatment of Rhodesian issues as exploitative. They, however, praised the performances of Lee and Faulkner.
