Alabaster Box (album)
Alabaster Box is the fourth studio album by American singer CeCe Winans. It was released October 19, 1999, on WellSpring Gospel and runs 45 minutes and 30 seconds, blending funk, soul, and gospel. Winans described the project as experimental for WellSpring before the label signed new artists. The album features a duet with Take 6 and includes production by Fred Hammond among others, with CeCe Winans and Alvin Love serving as executive producers; other producers include Cedric Caldwell, Victor Caldwell, Cedric Dent, Mark Kibble, and David Thomas.
In her discography, the album sits after His Gift (1998) and before CeCe Winans (2001). Critics characterized Alabaster Box as a return to Winans’s gospel roots, delivering energizing performances with contemporary production. AllMusic praised it as a triumphant album from a terrific talent.
