2012 Amstel Gold Race
The 2012 Amstel Gold Race was the 47th edition of this one-day cycling classic. It was held on 15 April 2012 and covered 256.5 kilometers (159.4 miles). It was the 11th race of the 2012 UCI World Tour.
Enrico Gasparotto of Astana won the race after outsprinting his rivals on the Cauberg, earning his first Classics victory and making him the first Italian rider to win a European one-day classic since 2008. Jelle Vanendert of Lotto–Belisol finished second, and Peter Sagan of Liquigas–Cannondale finished third. Two-time defending champion Philippe Gilbert, riding for BMC Racing Team, finished in the same time but was placed sixth.
As a UCI World Tour event, all 18 ProTeams were automatically invited, with six additional wildcard teams, creating a 24-team peloton for the race.
