2005 America East men's basketball tournament
The 2005 America East men's basketball tournament ran March 4–6 at the Binghamton University Events Center, with the final on March 12 at Patrick Gym on the University of Vermont campus. Vermont won its third consecutive conference title under coach Tom Brennan, and Taylor Coppenrath of Vermont was named the tournament MVP after beating Northeastern in the final. Vermont then earned a NCAA tournament bid as a 13-seed in the Austin Regional, where they upset #4 Syracuse 60–57 in overtime in the first round before losing to Michigan State 72–61 in the second round. Boston University and Northeastern earned NIT bids but were eliminated in the first round by Georgetown and Memphis, respectively.
