Aivar Mäe
Aivar Mäe (born 12 May 1960 in Pärnu) is an Estonian conductor and musician. He graduated in 1985 from Tallinn State Conservatory in music pedagogy. From 1984 to 1987 he was a vocalist and acoustic guitarist with the pop group Vitamiin. From 1999 to 2008 he served as the executive director of Eesti Kontsert, and from 2003 to 2006 he was the director of the Vanemuine theatre. In 2009 he became the executive director of the Estonian National Opera, but he resigned in August 2021 amid accusations of sexual harassment. Mäe denied the allegations but later issued a public apology. After resigning, he took a position at the Artium Cultural Centre in Viimsi. He helped start the Saaremaa Opera Days in 1999 and the Jõhvi Ballet Festival in 2006. He founded the chamber choir Arsis, which was active from 1990 to 1997.
