Aglaia rufibarbis is a small tree in the mahogany family (Meliaceae). It grows up to 5 metres tall with a trunk about 5 cm in diameter. The bark is usually grey or pale brown, sometimes dark brown. Its roundish fruits are up to 2 cm across. The name rufibarbis comes from Latin for "red beard," referring to reddish-brown hairs on the plant. It lives in mixed dipterocarp forests from 100 to 250 metres above sea level. It is found in Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo.
