Adventure in Iraq
Adventure in Iraq is a 1943 American adventure film directed by D. Ross Lederman for Warner Bros. It stars John Loder, Ruth Ford, Warren Douglas, and Paul Cavanagh, and is based on William Archer’s 1921 play The Green Goddess. The story follows three Americans whose small plane, en route to Cairo, must land in Iraq and who are captured by a local Arab chieftain. Made as a quick wartime programmer, it updates the old tale to modern Iraq but faced objections from the Office of War Information for anti-British and anti-Arab undertones; although an export license was granted, the State Department overrode it, and the film did not receive an overseas release in the 1940s. The budget was $130,000 and it earned $147,000 domestically, with the release date of September 27, 1943.
