Careca (footballer, born 1968)
Careca II, born Hamilton de Souza on 27 September 1968 in Passos, Minas Gerais, Brazil, is a former Brazilian footballer who played as a striker. He is 1.85 meters tall.
Club career: He played for several Brazilian clubs, including Cruzeiro, Ponte Preta, Atlético Mineiro, América Mineiro, Londrina, Coritiba, Democrata, and Vila Nova. He also spent time in Portugal with Sporting CP (where he made 32 appearances and scored 8 goals) and Famalicão.
International and Olympic career: He represented Brazil from 1988 to 1989, earning seven caps. He played for Brazil at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, where the team won the silver medal after losing the final to the Soviet Union. In the first round of the tournament, he started alongside Romário but did not score and was substituted for Bebeto in each game.
Coaching and family: In 2008 he served as an assistant coach for Atlético Mineiro’s youth team. In July 2015, his son Hamilton de Souza Junior signed with Biu Chun Rangers in Hong Kong for the 2015–16 season.
