Adalbert Poole
Adalbert James Moses Poole (December 11, 1881 – September 26, 1970) was a Manitoba politician. He served in the Manitoba Legislative Assembly from 1927 to 1936 as a Progressive Party member. Poole was born in Neepawa, Manitoba, and was a farmer who also led farming groups, including the United Farmers of Manitoba (president, 1925–1928) and the Canadian Council of Agriculture (president, 1927–1928). He married Alice Watson in 1909. Elected in 1927 for Beautiful Plains, he defeated E. H. Whelpley, and was re-elected in 1932 over John Poole. He was a backbench supporter of Premier John Bracken. He lost in 1936 to John Poole by 183 votes. After his defeat, he moved to the left and joined the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation, running for them in 1945 but losing again to John Poole. He died in Neepawa at age 88.
