Joe Siddall
Joe Siddall (born October 25, 1967) is a Canadian former professional baseball catcher from Windsor, Ontario. He batted left-handed and threw right-handed. Siddall played in Major League Baseball for the Montreal Expos, Florida Marlins, and Detroit Tigers between 1993 and 1998. His MLB debut was July 28, 1993, with the Expos, and his last game was September 26, 1998, with the Tigers. Across his MLB career, he hit .169 with one home run and 11 runs batted in.
Siddall was signed by the Expos as an amateur free agent in 1987 and spent several years in the minors before reaching the majors. He played for the Expos again in 1995, then joined the Florida Marlins in late 1995 and appeared in 16 games in 1996. He returned to the Expos’ organization in 1997, then signed with the Detroit Tigers in December 1997, appearing in 1998 for Detroit. He continued in the minor leagues with the Tigers in 1999 and finished his playing career in 2000 with the Boston Red Sox organization.
After retiring as a player, Siddall moved into broadcasting. He was hired by the Toronto Blue Jays on March 1, 2014, to work on radio broadcasts with Jerry Howarth. In 2018, he moved to television, taking over Blue Jays Central. In 2023, he served as a substitute color commentator. Siddall won the Canadian Screen Award for Best Sports Analysis or Commentary in 2022.
