The song blends New Jack Swing and hip hop, runs 3 minutes 37 seconds, and was released by MCA. It was written by Bell Biv DeVoe, Mark Wilson, and Rico Anderson, with Rico Anderson producing. The track samples Boogie Down Productions' "South Bronx" and The Emotions' "Blind Alley." It peaked at number 81 on the Billboard R&B chart in 1993. It served as the official lead single from Hootie Mack, following the promotional single "From the Back."
