Abdullah bin Bakheet (born 1952, Riyadh) is a Saudi journalist and novelist. He studied at King Saud University and began his journalism career in 1978, writing for Al Yamamah magazine and the Al Riyadh and Al Jazirah newspapers. He has written a regular column for Al Riyadh and is known for liberal views on topics like women's rights and minority rights. In 2005, he clashed with Saudi morality police and was charged with spreading corruption and immorality through his writing. Bakheet has written widely beyond journalism, including literary and critical works and television scripts. His novel Street of Affections was longlisted for the 2010 Arabic Booker Prize.
