Alexander Popovich
Alexander “Xandl” Popovich (18 July 1891 – 7 September 1952) was an Austrian footballer and later a manager. Also known as Popovic or Poppovich, he played as a defender mainly in Vienna for clubs including SV Amateure Wien (Austria Vienna), Rapid Vienna, Amateure Wien again, and Wiener AC, from 1911 to 1925. He won the Austrian Cup twice and the Austrian Championship with Austria Vienna, and he also won the Austrian Championship with Rapid Vienna. He earned 33 caps for Austria and scored one goal between 1911 and 1923, debuting in October 1911 against Germany. After retiring, he became a manager, leading German clubs Hertha Berlin (1927) and Minerva Berlin (1929–1932), and later Italian clubs Lazio and Bologna (1941–1943).
