86 BC
86 BC was a year in the pre-Julian Roman calendar. It was known as the Year of the Consulship of Cinna and Marius (or, less commonly, of Flaccus). It was also counted as 668 Ab urbe condita, the number of years since Rome’s founding. The designation “86 BC” has been used since the early medieval period when the Anno Domini era became the common way to name years in Europe.
