46 Cancri is a star in the zodiac constellation Cancer, about 609 light-years from the Sun. It is barely visible to the naked eye, with an apparent magnitude of 6.12, and it is moving closer to us at about 13.1 km/s. Classified as G5 III, it is a yellow-hued giant that has exhausted hydrogen in its core and evolved away from the main sequence. The star is roughly 740 million years old, with about 2.65 solar masses and a radius of around 15 solar radii. It shines about 126 times brighter than the Sun and has a surface temperature near 5,119 K. Its metal content is close to solar, and it rotates slowly with a projected velocity of about 6.6 km/s.
