The 2021–22 Liga Primera de Nicaragua season used two short tournaments, Apertura and Clausura. Ten teams competed, including UNAN Managua, who were promoted from the second division, and nine teams from the previous season. Junior Managua were relegated after finishing last in the aggregate table, while Chinandega FC finished 9th and lost a playoff to HyH Export de Sébaco, so Chinandega were relegated and HyH Export stayed in the league.
