On May 1, 2019, the 2018–19 Austrian Cup final was played at the Wörthersee Stadion in Klagenfurt. Red Bull Salzburg beat Rapid Wien 2–0 to win the cup, their sixth title. Attendance was 24,200 on a clear day. Because Salzburg finished first in the Austrian Bundesliga, they qualified for the Champions League and Wolfsberger AC moved into the Europa League group stage.

Rapid Wien were in their 28th final (their first since 2017). Salzburg had appeared in 11 finals, winning six. In the league that season, the two teams split their matches, with Rapid scoring 3 and Salzburg 2 across the two games. The 2016–17 cup final also saw Salzburg defeat Rapid 2–1.
