2012 BMW PGA Championship
The 2012 BMW PGA Championship was the 58th edition of the event on the European Tour. It took place from 24–27 May at Wentworth Club in Surrey, England. The course was a par 72 and measured 7,302 yards. The field started with 150 players, with 72 making the cut. The prize fund was €4.5 million, with €750,000 going to the winner.
Luke Donald won with a total of 273 strokes, finishing 15 under par. He defended his PGA Championship title and regained the world number one ranking.
In the final round, Donald began with a two-shot lead over Justin Rose. Rose caught up after four holes, but Donald birdied at holes 6, 7, and 10 to re-establish a three-shot lead. The advantage grew to five after a birdie at the 16th while Rose bogeyed the bunker. Paul Lawrie shot the best round of the day, 66, and finished tied for second with Rose at 11-under, four shots behind Donald.
Donald became only the third player to win consecutive PGA Championship titles, joining Nick Faldo and Colin Montgomerie.
