Overview
Guatemala’s top league had two championships in one season: the Apertura (opening) in late 2006 and the Clausura (closing) in 2007. The season crowned two champions and saw relegation and promotion playoffs for teams near the bottom of the table.

Apertura 2006
- Champion: Municipal won the title after a tight playoff, finishing as champions on away goals after the final against Comunicaciones ended level.
- Other notes: The Apertura featured two-legged quarterfinals and semifinals before the final. Municipal and Comunicaciones reached the final, with Municipal emerging as champions.

Clausura 2007
- Champion: Xelajú MC won the Clausura title, defeating Marquense in the final on aggregate, 4–2.
- Other notes: The Clausura also used a playoff format to decide the champion, with Xelajú MC ultimately taking the crown.

Relegation and promotion playoffs
- Relegation outcomes: Mictlán was automatically relegated to the second division after finishing last in the aggregate table.
- Promotion/relegation playoffs:
- Cobán Imperial vs. Suchitepéquez: Suchitepéquez won on aggregate and stayed in the top division; Cobán Imperial were relegated to the second division.
- Heredia vs. Sacachispas: Heredia won on aggregate and stayed in the top division; Sacachispas were relegated to the second division.

- Relegation: Mictlán relegated; Sacachispas relegated
- Promotions playoffs: Both Cobán Imperial and Sacachispas were relegated after playoff results, while Suchitepéquez and Heredia remained in the top division.
