2-Imidazolidinethione
2-Imidazolidinethione is an organosulfur compound with the formula C3H4N2S. It is a cyclic five-membered ring containing two nitrogens and a thiocarbonyl group (C=S). The C=S bond is short, about 169 picometers. The compound is often called 2-mercaptoimidazole, but that name refers to a tautomer that is not observed. The preferred IUPAC name is 1,5-dihydro-2H-imidazole-2-thione. 2-Imidazolidinethione can form various metal complexes and behaves similarly to mercaptobenzimidazole in bonding and reactivity.
