The Abruzzo regional election was held on 23 April 1995 to elect the 40 members of the Regional Council of Abruzzo. For the first time, the region’s president was directly elected by voters, though the election was not binding and the president could still be replaced during the term. Antonio Falconio of the Italian People’s Party (PPI) won the presidency, defeating Piergiorgio Landini of Forza Italia by a narrow margin. The PPI secured a majority with 25 of the 40 seats, receiving 381,051 votes (48.2%). Landini’s center-right list won 15 seats with 373,101 votes (47.2%). The president before the election was Vincenzo Del Colle (PPI).
