1993 Masters Tournament
The 57th Masters was played April 8–11 at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. Bernhard Langer won his second Masters title, finishing at 277 (−11), four strokes ahead of Chip Beck.
Weather and rounds: Heavy rain on Friday caused a delay, and the second round wasn’t completed until Saturday morning. Jeff Maggert led the field at 137 (−7) when play ended for the day, while Langer was six-under through 16 holes when darkness suspended play.
Langer took control with a third-round 69, the day’s best score, to build a four-shot lead. On Sunday, Dan Forsman briefly closed to within one, but a trouble-filled hole at the par-3 12th ended his challenge with a quadruple bogey.
In the final rounds, Beck stayed in contention but could not catch Langer. Beck trailed by three at the 15th, chose to lay up, then bogeyed 16 as Langer birdied 13 to extend the lead; Beck bogeyed 16 and Langer won by four.
Amateurs: None of the five amateurs made the cut; Justin Leonard was closest at 149 (+5). The field started with 90 players and 61 made the cut at 147 (+3). The tournament was played at par 72 over 6,905 yards, with a total prize fund of US$1.7 million and the winner’s share of US$306,000.
