École secondaire Gabriel-Dumont
École secondaire Gabriel-Dumont is a public French-first-language high school in London, Ontario, Canada. It is located on Evans Boulevard in the Summerside neighborhood in southeast London. The school is named after Métis leader Gabriel Dumont and is part of the Conseil scolaire Viamonde school board. It serves students in grades 7 to 12 and offers a French-language program for the local francophone community under the French Language Services Act. The current principal is Julie Petruniak.
History:
- French-language education in London began with elementary schools in 1972 and a high school class in 1979 at London Central Secondary School, which grew into Le Module scolaire de langue française (MSLF).
- In 1998, the MSLF became École secondaire Gabriel-Dumont as part of Ontario’s education restructuring.
- In 2012, Gabriel-Dumont moved into its own building at 2463 Evans Boulevard in the Summerside area.
Enrollment and identity:
- Enrollment around 470 students (as of 2022).
- School colors are blue and yellow.
