Elections in Sikkim
Elections in Sikkim were held when it was a kingdom, from 1953 to 1974. After joining India, Sikkim has elections from 1979 as a state. The Legislative Assembly has 32 seats, including one seat reserved for the Sangha (the Buddhist monastic community). The general elections took place before Sikkim joined India.
