Thomas Klasen
Thomas Klasen (born 16 September 1983) is a German football manager and former player. He is the head coach of Eintracht Trier in the Regionalliga Südwest. Born in Neuwied, he began his career in the youth systems of 1. FC Kaiserslautern and TuS Mayen and played as a left winger for clubs including TuS Mayen, Eintracht Trier, 1. FC Kaiserslautern II, Kickers Emden, SV Elversberg, TuS Koblenz and FC Karbach. He retired from playing on 30 June 2017. While at FC Karbach he was a player-coach and started coaching courses, including the DFB-Elite-Jugend-Lizenz, while studying primary education with a focus on German and sport.
In his coaching career, Klasen was a player-assistant at FC Karbach (2016–2017), then head coach of CS Fola Esch in Luxembourg in February 2018 but was dismissed after two losses at the start of the 2018–19 season. He served as an assistant coach for 1. FC Köln II from 2019 to 2023. In June 2023, he became head coach of Eintracht Trier. He led the club to immediate promotion back to the Regionalliga, winning the Oberliga title with seven games remaining.
