1982–83 French Division 1
FC Nantes won the 1982–83 French Division 1, their 6th title, with 58 points. Relegated were Tours, Lyon, and Mulhouse. In European competitions for the next season: Nantes qualified for the European Cup; Paris Saint-Germain qualified for the Cup Winners' Cup; Bordeaux, Lens, and Laval qualified for the UEFA Cup. The season had 380 matches and 1,090 goals (about 2.87 per match). The top scorer was Vahid Halilhodžić with 27 goals. Teams promoted from Division 2 would play in Division 1 for the 1983–84 season.
