Josh Shipp (basketball)
Josh Ian Shipp (born February 14, 1986) is an American former professional basketball player. He grew up in Los Angeles and starred at Fairfax High School, where he helped win a California state title. He played college basketball at UCLA from 2004 to 2009. After hip surgery in 2005, he returned to become a regular starter and helped UCLA reach the Final Four in 2006. In his senior year he started all 39 games and was named co-MVP of the Bruins, finishing his college career with 1,254 points.
Shipp went undrafted in 2009 but joined the Chicago Bulls’ summer league team. He began his professional career in Turkey with Bornova Belediye, then played for Galatasaray Medical Park, Anadolu Efes, and Türk Telekom. He finished his overseas career with Germany’s Brose Baskets, signing after a three-week tryout and staying until early 2015.
He was listed as 6 feet 5 inches tall and about 220 pounds, playing as a shooting guard or small forward. He comes from a basketball family: his older brother Joe played for California, his younger brother Jerren played at Arizona State, and his sister Brittney is a television meteorologist and author.
