The 1982 Toronto Blue Jays season was the franchise’s sixth in Major League Baseball. They played in the American League East at Exhibition Stadium in Toronto and finished 78–84 (.481), placing 7th in the division after losing a tiebreaker to Cleveland. They were 17 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers, the AL champions. Bobby Cox was the manager and Pat Gillick the general manager. The team was owned by Labatt Breweries, Imperial Trust, and the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.

Pitcher Dave Stieb stood out, leading the American League with 19 complete games and 5 shutouts.

A notable off-field change: Ontario approved beer sales at Exhibition Stadium on a trial basis starting July 7, 1982, making it the last major league stadium to sell beer. The first ceremonial beer at Exhibition Stadium was sold on July 30 to fan William Turner of London, Ontario.

These are the key points from the Jays’ 1982 season.
