1974 1000 Lakes Rally
The 1974 1000 Lakes Rally, also known as Jyväskylän Suurajot, was the third round of the shortened 1974 World Rally Championship. It took place from August 2 to August 4, 1974, based in Jyväskylä, Finland.
The rally covered about 1,180 kilometers on gravel, split into 36 stages. Instead of using special stage times to decide the winner, the event used a time-penalty system across the whole route—the driver with the lowest total penalty time won.
117 crews started the rally, and 88 finished. Hannu Mikkola, with co-driver John Davenport, won the event driving a Ford.
