Each national team submitted 22 players. All teams used 3 goalkeepers, except Brazil, Chile and North Korea, which had 2.
Some players played for clubs outside their country: Spain (3 players abroad), West Germany (3) and France (2).
Every team had a head coach, including Alf Ramsey, Henri Guérin, Ignacio Trelles, Ondino Viera, Juan Carlos Lorenzo, José Villalonga, Alfredo Foni, Helmut Schön, Vicente Feola, Rudolf Vytlačil, Lajos Baróti, Otto Glória, Luis Álamos, Edmondo Fabbri, Myung Rye-hyun and Nikolai Morozov.
