The Canadiens celebrated their 50th season by winning the Stanley Cup for the fourth straight year and the 11th time in club history. They also captured the Prince of Wales Trophy for finishing first in the league. Their regular-season record was 39–18–13, with a home mark of 21–8–6 and a road record of 18–10–7, scoring 258 goals and allowing 158.
